International humanitarian law regulates the conduct of parties in armed conflicts and includes provisions on the right to education and education more generally, for example,  the protection of students, education staff and educational facilities.

For more information about this legal framework, we recommend reading Protecting Education in Insecurity and Armed conflict: An International Law Handbook published by Education Above All and the British Institute of International and Comparative Law.
